Founder & CEO, Kasaya
Palak Sehgal is the founder of Kasaya, a next-generation skincare brand grounded in biology, precision, and purpose. Her entry into skincare is driven by scientific rigour, cultivated through years of working with biological systems and understanding their function in real-world contexts. With Kasaya, she applies this scientific perspective to beauty, developing formulations that work synergistically with the skin rather than simply resting on its surface.
Kasaya’s Philosophy
Palak holds a BTech in Biotechnology and an MSc in Plant Genetics, with academic expertise spanning molecular biology, genetics, and applied plant science. This scientific foundation shapes Kasaya’s formulation philosophy: every ingredient is chosen for its specific function, used at effective concentrations, and validated by testing. Her formal study of Ayurvedic herbology enables her to bridge clinical research with traditional botanical wisdom, adding rigour and depth to the brand.
Palak’s Professional Experience
Before founding Kasaya, Palak worked at Nordetect, a Denmark-based agri-tech company specialising in portable chemical testing solutions. She developed field-ready assays for real-time nutrient measurement, minimising the need for lab-based testing. This hands-on experience in translating complex science into practical, actionable tools continues to inform Kasaya’s formulation strategies and the development of its forthcoming AI-driven skin assessment platform.
The Inspiration for Kasaya
The inspiration for Kasaya arose from personal necessity. During her pregnancy in 2022, Palak experienced significant skin changes and identified a clear market gap: products were often scientifically ambiguous or poorly formulated. Leveraging her scientific background, she set out to create skincare that emphasises not just ingredients but also their biological functions and performance. Even the name ‘Kasaya’, drawn from the Sanskrit word for botanical decoction, underscores this commitment to precision and process.
From Formulation to Strategic Direction
As Founder and CEO, Palak oversees Kasaya’s formulation, manufacturing, regulatory compliance, and strategic direction. She manages production at a GMP-certified facility in Uttarakhand and actively leads the development of Kasaya’s AI-powered skin health platform.
Since its launch in November 2024, Kasaya has gained early traction and industry recognition, including being named Elle Innovator of the Year in 2025. Plans for European expansion are currently underway.
At her core, Palak is committed to making biology more precise, accessible, and effective in everyday life.

Kasaya
Bioactive Skincare Defined
Kasaya is a new-generation skincare brand founded on the principle that skincare should function at a biological level. Launched in November 2024, the brand aims to bridge the gap between marketing narratives and formulation science, prioritising results over trends. Kasaya employs a rigorously evidence-based approach: every ingredient is chosen for its proven biological impact, used at clinically relevant concentrations, and validated through stringent testing. Nothing is included for its own sake; every component is purpose-driven and earns its place.
Kasaya defines its niche as bioactive skincare, bridging clinical formulations and traditional Ayurveda. Instead of emphasising exclusions, the brand focuses on providing what skin needs to thrive. This philosophy is embodied in its microbiome-first formulation architecture, which integrates prebiotics to support beneficial bacteria, probiotics to balance immune response, and postbiotics to deliver immediate, bioavailable benefits. Together, these elements fortify the skin barrier, minimise transepidermal water loss, and enhance long-term skin resilience.
Kasaya draws inspiration from Ayurveda through a contemporary scientific perspective, reimagining botanicals such as turmeric, ashwagandha, and triphala as functional bioactives. These ingredients are selected based on their scientifically proven interactions with the skin’s microbiome and stress responses, not merely for tradition.
All products are developed to meet stringent European regulatory standards and Danish testing protocols. Every formulation is GMP-certified, CPNP-compliant, and subject to ISO-grade safety and performance testing.
Sustainability is integral to Kasaya’s operations, not an afterthought. The brand prioritises upcycled botanicals, utilises glass packaging for stability and recyclability, and streamlines manufacturing to reduce emissions. Additionally, a portion of revenue supports forest conservation initiatives, underscoring a lasting commitment to environmental responsibility.
Kasaya’s current product range is purposefully focused, targeting key concerns like pigmentation, barrier repair, collagen support, and microbiome balance with precise formulations. The brand appeals to informed, ingredient-conscious consumers who value clarity, transparency, and tangible results. It also addresses the specific needs of pregnancy and postpartum skincare, prioritising both safety and efficacy.
Looking ahead, Kasaya is evolving into a personalised skincare platform. Its forthcoming AI-powered skin tracking system will monitor individual skin responses over time and deliver adaptive, data-driven recommendations, marking a shift from static routines to truly responsive skincare.
Kasaya is not positioned as clean beauty, purely clinical, or traditional Ayurveda. Instead, it represents a convergence of all three, where biology, botany, and technology come together to create skincare that is precise, transparent, and built to perform.
