Superkicks x Adidas Originals Launch the Samba “Heirloom”

A Celebration of Memory, Craftsmanship and the Stories We Choose to Preserve

Superkicks has partnered with adidas Originals to unveil the Samba “Heirloom”, a release inspired by one of India’s most enduring traditions, the passing down of cherished heirlooms. Layered with memory, emotion and meaning, these treasured objects are preserved across generations, becoming living fragments of family history and carrying stories that outlast time.

From jewellery and photographs to handwritten letters, travel memorabilia and weathered trunks, heirlooms have long represented more than possessions. They are symbols of heritage, continuity and care, passed from one generation to the next as quiet reminders of where we come from and the stories that shape us.

Heirloom

For the Superkicks x adidas Originals Samba “Heirloom”, the inspiration came from the peti, the handcrafted storage trunk that once held a special place in Indian homes. Used to safeguard a family’s most treasured belongings, these trunks became vessels of memory, preserving photographs, letters, jewelry, and keepsakes that would eventually find their way into the hands of future generations.

Samba

The Samba was chosen as the silhouette for its own place in adidas’ history. Originally designed for sport, the silhouette has since become deeply embedded in culture and has been passed through different generations and contexts without losing its identity. That sense of longevity made it the right foundation for a collaboration centred around an object whose purpose was also to preserve something meaningful. The result brings together two different forms of heritage: adidas’ enduring icon and the Indian tradition of preserving what is worth passing on.

Craftsmanship

Crafted painstakingly by master artisans using leather, steel and brushed gold hardware, the peti stood as a symbol of exceptional craftsmanship, permanence and understated luxury. Every rivet, clasp and finish reflected the care with which these objects were made, not simply to endure, but to preserve what mattered most.

Drawing from this legacy, the Superkicks x adidas Originals Samba “Heirloom” interprets the spirit of the traditional peti through a refined palette of premium leather, rich suede and metallic detailing. Rather than recreating the object itself, the design captures the feeling of preservation, honouring the craftsmanship, permanence and emotional significance associated with the heirlooms they once protected.

More than a product, the Samba “Heirloom” is conceived as an expression of legacy. It reflects the belief that the objects we choose to preserve often become the stories we pass on, celebrating the enduring value of craftsmanship, culture and memory.

Sangeet Paryani, CEO & Co-founder, Superkicks, said: “Every Superkicks project begins with a story, and ‘Heirloom’ is one that felt deeply personal to us. Growing up, many of us remember opening an old peti and discovering photographs, letters or keepsakes that connected us to people and moments we had never experienced ourselves. Those objects carried history, emotion and identity. With ‘Heirloom’, we wanted to celebrate that tradition of preservation and bring a distinctly Indian story to a global audience in a way that feels authentic, meaningful and timeless.”

Nisha Lulla, Co-founder, Superkicks, added: “From the product itself to the launch experience, every detail of ‘Heirloom’ has been thoughtfully designed to reflect the idea of preservation. Working alongside adidas Originals, we wanted every touchpoint, from the special packaging to the storytelling and retail experience, to evoke the feeling of discovering something truly treasured. It has been important for us that this release feels immersive, allowing people to experience the emotion and craftsmanship behind the concept, not just the sneaker itself.”

With the adidas Originals Samba “Heirloom”, Superkicks continues to champion uniquely Indian narratives through the lens of contemporary design. Rooted in the enduring tradition of preserving objects that carry meaning across generations, the release is a tribute to craftsmanship, cultural heritage and the stories that connect the past with the future.

The Superkicks x adidas Originals Samba “Heirloom” will be available in India exclusively at Superkicks stores and online at Superkicks, and will launch globally on 29th August 2026 through select retailers across key international markets, including Dover Street Market Japan, Atmos Japan, Concepts UAE, The Good Life UAE, Shopigo Turkey and Carnival Thailand, taking this distinctly Indian story to audiences around the world.
