Saumya’s Background

Hailing from Rewari, Haryana, Saumya is an alumna of prestigious institutions, having earned her B.Tech in Computer Science from IIT Delhi and an MBA in General Management from Stanford University. Her early career as a management consultant cultivated her operational thinking, while her time at Urban Company immersed her in India’s vibrant consumer-tech scene.

Saumya’s Entrepreneurial Journey

Her entrepreneurial journey began with an edtech startup, attracting notable investors like InfoEdge and Alphawave. Although the venture ultimately closed, Saumya chose to return $8 million to her investors, a testament to her integrity and visionary mindset. This endeavour also provided substantial employment to over 300 women teachers, highlighting her commitment to impact through business.

What Inspired &DONE

The inspiration for &DONE emerged from a deeply personal challenge. After becoming a mother, Saumya encountered postpartum hair struggles that were familiar to many women. She realised effective solutions were scarce; international brands overlooked Indian hair, while local offerings often lacked scientific credibility. This disconnect ignited the creation of &DONE.
